Why You Should #votejonsilver

PremierLife Posted on February 13, 2012

I’m Jon Silver and I’m running for USC President.

I just want to start by stating that I don’t hate PremierLife, I really don’t. I don’t bash them, I don’t slander their good name. In fact, I think that PremierLife has an important role to play in the Western community.

Before running for USC President, I did my research and I met with PremierLife. I’ll admit, at first I was apprehensive about a USC-PremierLife relationship. It’s no secret to most that this year they have partnered together, and I wanted to seriously think about whether or not this was a good idea to continue if elected. This is what I came up with:

The USC exists for sole purpose of furthering student experience. So does PremierLife. At the end of the day USC-ers need to realize that we aren’t always the best and only entity to benefit student life at Western, and that sometimes we need help.
That’s where Premier comes in. A partnership with Premier can make our events bigger and better. They can help us make events cheaper, and therefore financially accessible to more students. They also have a way more extensive (and enthusiastic) promotions team that can help us communicate upcoming events to a much larger portion of the Western community.

Bottom line? I think PremierLife can only benefit on-campus events. If elected, I plan on continuing the current relationship and make sure that at the end of the day everything we (the USC) does benefits students.

I don’t know if this information will help you vote, but I thought I’d clear the air. I’d also like to throw in that if you plan on voting, its always best to vote informed. Check out my website, votejonsilver.ca, where you can vote on platform points and let me know which ones are the highest priority for you. And thanks for taking the time to read this.

(Sorry if this sucks, its my first time writing for Premier.)
