Why You Should #lovelogan….
“Because I Care” would be the simple answer to the question of why you should vote for Logan Ross for your next USC president. It may sound like a slogan but I would like to explain to you what I really mean by that phrase.
I started this exciting, challenging, exhausting, incredible journey know as my campaign on January 31st at 12:01am. I was inspired to put myself “out there” because I saw a chance to make a difference for each and every student on campus.
My experience as a student at large this year on council showed me just how much the average student isn’t hearing about. I wanted to change that. At the start of all this I stated that I was a “Student” which of course was repeated by each and every candidate because at this point we all are! What I was trying to articulate is that next year if I don’t have the position of President I will still be a Western Student , I will not have graduated and moved on to the next phase of my life. I will be invested in everything I do to continue to make Western the place that has the best student experience in Canada ( and my brother has just started into first year at Kings so the parents will be counting on me to do a good job for his sake as much as on behalf of all of you!)
I care about making it a priority to create a connection between students and the USC and between students and each other. I have created a feasible platform that reflects what students want- which is why I left my platform open for an update halfway through the campaign so I could add what students were telling me was important to them. I have focussed on points that will benefit the largest cross section of students. Everything I have tried to convey in this process has been to show I care what students want and care about what my fellow students think. I am making this about them and that isn’t going to change when I have the position of President.
There has been so much discussion of experience during the debates that have taken place over the last 14 days! Unfortuantely only a small percentage of students attend those debates and have to draw their perspective from newspaper articles and blogs etc. Here is what I have to say- I think the biggest part of any role you take on in life whether it is a position on a student council, a job, when you are volunteering- is who you are and what you are capable of and not necessarily who you know and what you’ve done. I hope you agree with my philosophy. I want to be the leader who inspires others to care and hope that after reading this you just might be inspired to vote. I hope I inspire you to believe in me and what I will do with that belief on your behalf.
If I haven’t had the chance to meet you during this whirlwind what I would like you to know about me is that I wake up happy every morning. I love to live life and am never afraid to try new things or take on new challenges even when other people think I am crazy for trying them- like joining a wrestling team or skydiving!
