Yesterday amongst all the Christmas cheer I unwrapped the most hideous sweater from my boyfriend. I felt really bad because I know he tried his best and usually he does a really good job, but I don’t know what he was thinking with this. I tried putting it on and complaining about it being too small (it wasn’t) but he was able to notice this and decisively put my false size suspicions to rest. So now I’m stuck with this burnt orange sweater (that I’m pretty sure he found in his mom’s closet) and without a gift receipt. PremierLife, what do I do with this new addition to my wardrobe? He will definitely notice if I never wear it so I can’t throw it out or give it away but it is actually so ugly. HELP
Dear Sweater Hater,
Ohhhhhh this is a tough one. I would say you have little to no options for this one. As you stated he will def notice if you don’t wear it, but that doesn’t mean you have to wear it out. Next time he comes over, throw it on before and hopefully he believes that you had been wearing that all day instead of that super cute top you just copped at H&M. This will make him feel better and avoid you having to confront your boyfriend on his brutal present choosing.
Wear it out with him once. Choose the location carefully. Maybe throw it on if you decide to go to the movies last minute> Make sure this is not on a Tuesday though. The movies on a Tuesday is as packed and littered with people from your classes as Ceeps stage. Ew. So anyways, when you decide last minute to jet to a movie, throw on the ugly sweater and hopefully no one will see your sweater after you take off your coat in the theatre.
After this one time of wearing it out, claim you spilled mustard on it or ripped it or anything really that would make it impossible to wear again. Act really distraught as if you just found out Prince Al’s had closed and then use that emotion to show your boyfriend how sad you are over the fugly sweater.
Next year, opt for a trip to Cuba instead. Nothing says I love you like a tan, waves and cocktails in the sun, right? Plus, it’s one size fits all.
Lots of free peace, and love,
