The OF Tape Vol. 2

The OF Tape Vol. 2

Today marks a BIG day for music. Regardless of whether you like them or not, the boys of Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All (and Syd Tha Kyd) released their highly anticipated follow up to the mixtape that shocked the world with their “in your face style of rapping.” This group of friends turned international phenomenon kicked off their road to fame last year, upon the release of pseudo-frontman, Tyler, The Creator’s release of his single, “Yonkers.” Following the release of the track and accompanying video, Tyler and the gang started running the late-night talk show circles, performing an epic rendition of “Sandwiches,” a vicious song featuring my favorite lyricist and overall rapper of the collective, Hodgy Beats. OFWGKTA dropped this album, following the official release of the popular track “Rella” and leaks of Frank Ocean songs this past month.

Comprised of Tyler, The Creator; Frank Ocean, Hodgy Beats, Left Brain, Syd Tha Kyd, (cult figurehead) Earl Sweatshirt, Mike G, Matt Martians, Hal Williams, Taco, and Jasper Dolphin; Odd Future’s 18 track record features the vast majority of the eclectic members. Ranging from the mellowed out, yet highly intense “Oldies,” to Frank Ocean’s ballad-like “White,” to Mike G and all star producer, Left Brain’s stellar “Forest Green,” this record has something for almost every listener out there. Although I’m not such a fan of the violent verses from Tyler, The Creator; I find it hard to be so negative towards a record that entrances me with “White,” “Forest Green,” “Rella,” “Snow White” and “Doms.”

Overall, I give this mixtape/album 3.75 out of 5 but it’s worthy of being rounded up to a 4 because Earl is back.

Pooch is your typical junkie. His drug and lifeblood is music. This musically inclined version of Rain Man has got you covered.
