This has been a big week for the two members of the Throne collaboration. Jay-Z is fresh off two critically lauded, back-to-back sold-out shows at New York’s historic Carnegie Hall. Kanye West is fresh off this awesome picture with Tyler, the Creator.
And now hip-hop’s favorite superhero duo releases the video for “Niggas in Paris,” the most popular song off their platinum selling album. The vid highlights a near epileptic-shock inducing performance from their ridiculously successful Watch the Throne tour, which I attended at the Air Canada in November and am still in the process of recovering from. The two earned a reputation for performing this song several times a night, topping out north of 10. I don’t know if this is a video you should (or physically/visually can) play that many times, but it’s certainly worth watching a few, if only to note of how many supermodel-esque women coincidentally attended the concert the night they shot this video.
Here’s another fun game to play in the comment section: try and come up with as many alternate names for the song’s impossible-to-say-on-the-radio-or-television title. I have:
“Dudes in Paris”
“African-American Gentlemen in Paris”
“Darker-Hued Fellows in Paris”
And the painfully bland, “Hov and Yeezy in Paris.” Tell me you can do better.
