Sports occur year-round and you can count on most guys to be avid sports fans. Whether we’re talking about football, soccer, hockey, baseball or curling, you name it and there’s a male fan somewhere out there. Ladies, this means your man is planning on spending a lot of time glued to the TV screen watching games and highlights. For some of you avid female fans, this may not be bad news, but for you others its time to listen up if you want to spend more quality time with him during his sports season.
Trust me you don't want to end up like this girl – Use these easy tips to learn how to become one of the bros.
Right in time for Hockey season (wahoo!) here is how to bond with the bros while watching sports…
Educate Yourself: If a guy asked me to watch soccer or hockey (Go Canucks!) I’d be smitten; but when it comes to football I don’t know two things about the game. This is why we must inform ourselves on the very logistics of your man’s chosen sport. Even better you can get him to educate you. Plus you’ll win bonus points for showing interested in his hobbies. Once you know what’s actually going on in the game it becomes a lot easier to follow along and get into it.
Pay Attention: Invest the time to actually absorb the action on the TV screen. As a soccer and hockey fan I have learned to love watching the games, gotten angry at losses, groaned at overtimes, and cheered at the goals. A man will know when you’re actually watching or if your just picking at your nails. Guys will also love it if you’re having a great time doing something he is also passionate about.
Teams: If your actually interested in the sport you should choose a team to follow. It will make following the games more interesting and you and your boy can argue or cheer together during the season.
No matter the team he will love if your actually interested in watching the given sport.
Know the Bros: Guys watch sports in groups and most of the time they won’t be interested in a female intruder. However if your guy invites you over during a game night it probably means he’s really into you. If you have no idea what’s going on in the game, don’t comment until a break or after the game. Your guy’s friends won’t appreciate yapping while huddled around the screen. If you can get through a couple of games with your man and his friends, let’s just say you’ll be in the good books.
Be Careful: Unless you’re a die-hard fan, don’t try and sound like you know everything about the game. It’s just plain embarrassing.
Look cute like Holly Madison while watching sports games with your man.
Remember that it’s a plus to get involved with your guy’s life and the more effort you put into that, the more he’ll want to invest in your interests. The bonus is that you’ll look damn cute in that football jersey or baseball cap if you go to a game together. So gear up girls because your man’s sport season may be just around the corner! Good Luck.
