Mary Tyler Moore was awarded the lifetime achievement award and received a standing ovation from the crowd, while the amazing drama The Help went home with the title of most Outstanding Performance By A Cast In A Motion Picture. Before all this excitement was the red carpet with the best and—unfortunately—the worst dresses celebrities. Without further ado here is your fashion review of the 2012 Screen Actors Guild Awards: The 12 best and worst dressed.
The Best Dressed – These dresses take the “sag” out of the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Sofia Vergara
The Modern Family beauty rocked this fuchsia dress as she strutted down the red carpet. The silver and fuchsia detailed earrings and bracelet make this a perfect outfit.
Lea Michele
Lea shows her sultry side and her mile long legs in this amazing dress. Paired with silver pumps she looked stunning. It looks as if Michele isn’t so innocent after all.
Jessica Chastain
Jessica kept in simple and classic in this blue long gown. With small detailing around the cups of the dress and sapphire earrings she looks ravishing. This was the perfect outfit for her skin tone and hair color.
Emily Blunt
Emily picked the best colour dress for her look. Her dark hair paired with this emerald dress really makes her eyes pop. A small slit up the length of the dress allows her leg to peak though and show her sexy side.
Kristen Wiig
Not a single person could take their eyes off of Kristen Wiig this weekend. She spiced up her beige dress with a stunning choker and clutch. This outfit matches her dark locks wonderfully. Wiig was a sensation on stage and on the red carpet this year.
Naya Rivera
Naya Rivera looked magnificent in this sparkled masterpiece. The deep neck line adds a sexy accent making this one of the best dresses at the awards.
The Worst Dressed – These six made some serious wardrobe mistakes this year.
Busy Phillips
This bohemian dress just did not work for Busy Phillips. It almost reminded me of a maternity dress with its awkward shaping and weird pattern. Bravo for the braid though—it goes well with her hippie-chic attempt at style.
Ariel Winter
Ariel Winter sure didn’t rock the runway. This detailed dress has serious potential but has too much going on. Lace, sequins, sparkles paired with metallic shoes is just a bit too much for the eye to handle.
Rosie Byrne
Come on, this was an absolute one-piece-pant-suit fail. What were you thinking, Rosie?
Shailene Woodley
We know you just starred in a Hawaiian movie, Shailene, but that doesn’t mean you get to bring Hawaii to the red carpet. This flowered dress looks tacky and doesn’t fit her body well at all.
Jenna Ushkowitz
I have no idea what is going on with this dress. The pattern, the detailing, the shape, the neckline and the accessory choices are all wrong. Not even her hair is done right. Poor Jenna!
Kelly Osbourne
As far as the worst dresses go, this one is not too bad. I just hated the tassels on the dress and Kelly’s over all look. Not my favorite outfit of the night, that’s for sure!
The best dressed couple award goes to two different couples this year: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt along with George Clooney and his girlfriend Stacy Keibler looked absolutely perfect. These couples stole the spotlight on the red carpet in their black dresses and fitted suits.
