For the Love of Animals–London Humane Society Event @ Cobra

Sarah Schneider Posted on November 18, 2011

Calling all animal lovers! Come celebrate your love of animals with the London Humane Society this upcoming Thursday, November 24th at Cobra Nightclub.

The UWO post graduate public relations class is working in collaboration with the London Humane Society  (LHS) and Continuing Studies Western to help celebrate the launch of their social media (Facebook & Twitter). Tickets are available for just $10 with 100% of the profits going to London Humane Society. Tickets include line-by pass until 11pm and door cover.

The London Humane Society is a non-profit organization that depends on generous people like you and me to help hundreds of animals, just like like Dancer, Cupid and Donner (below), per year find a home. The organization relies on 250 volunteers to work 365 days a year to provide cats and dogs socialization and exercise—bunnies and small critters receive special attention, too. The organization also responds to nearly 1000 complaints of animal cruelty on a yearly basis rescuing them from bad situations when criminal charges are laid. The London Humane Society takes great care and attention in finding every animal a worthy home.

7 week old Dancer, Cupid and Donner are currently available for adoption at the LHS

Trooper (below) is one animal in particular that has benefited from the London Humane Society’s efforts. Trooper is a young 8 month old husky who suffered from a broken leg for over six weeks. When his owners neglected to get the proper care for Trooper and his neighbors noticed he wasn’t getting any better, the Humane Society intervened. After receiving a complaint, the London Humane Society launched an investigation and managed to rescue Trooper from his unworthy owners. Due to the fact that Troopers leg had healed in the wrong position and was now shorter than the rest, it had to be amputated. It is sad, avoidable situations like these that the London Humane Society works diligently to relieve animals from.

You know you’re going to Cobra next Thursday anyways, so why not go with the excuse that you’re there in support of a great cause? Don’t forget to wear your favorite animal ears! I know I will be.
