The New Bachelorette

The New Bachelorette

Looking to take another shot at love, Emily Maynard signed on this past Tuesday, Jan. 25 to star in the next season of The Bachelorette. Fans were delightfully surprised to receive the news as it was only in July that Emily tweeted how she didn’t want to be the next bacherlotte. The 25-year-old from Charlotte, North Carolina, won the last season of the bachelor and the key to Brad Womack’s heart when he proposed to her in the finale. However, after stating that their was just too many, “red flags,” Emily broke up with Brad after only being engaged for a short while. Despite her rough luck, Emily seems to be willing to give looking for love on a reality TV show another go.

In an interview with people magazine Emily’s ex, Brad Womack (The Bachelor), admitted that he made, “Irreparable mistakes that cost what I thought was a future with a woman that I love from the bottom of my heart.” He also stated, “I would get so angry and would feel almost violated. I would keep those feelings bottled up, and by the time I had the chance to speak to Em…I would let that negative emotion come flooding out, and it was almost as if she was being attacked.”

Maynard is a full-time mother who became single after her former NASCAR driving fiance died in a plane crash in 2004 while she was pregnant. Being the shows first single mom, Maynard is in for a tough time with people and the press questioning how living a very public love life will affect her daughter. Not only that, but Emily was also known to complain about being followed around by the paparazzi citing that they invaded her privacy. She can’t seriously expect to star in her own season of The Bachelorette without the unwanted press more than doubling.

ABC spokesperson, Chris Harrison told Good Morning America, “We fell in love with [Maynard] on Brad’s [Womack] season,” adding that she’s “America’s sweetheart.”
